STUDY DAY 2018 Autumn Leaf

Women at the Well – 16 years and counting…..

We decided to try something a bit different for our 2018 gathering.

On Friday 11 May, twenty five women met at a warm, comfy home to tuck into a yummy meal and plenty of meaningful conversation which we ladies do so well.

After dinner, Marg, one of our many popular speakers, introduced us to her intriguing topic:  From the inside out.  She illustrated her interesting thoughts with imaginative visuals showing us that sometimes we only look at ourselves and others from the outside – the externals – but God looks from the inside, on our hearts and minds.

We learnt that the Bible idea of heart is the seat of thought, emotion and understanding whereas mind refers to the kidney which is the organ that purifies the blood and regulates the water level in our bodies.  What wonderful symbolism is available for all who want to dig below the literal and reach the depths of meaning that God has hidden in His Book which is a treasury of metaphors, poetry and parables filled with spiritual significance.

On Saturday 12 May, we met at Hyde Park hall where we continued to explore hidden gems from Genesis through to Revelation, but mainly focusing on Jesus’ parables which provided us with a feast of meaning below the surface.  By having to seek out the underlying meanings, our characters are moulded to become Christlike from the inside out.

We enjoyed a tasty lunch of piping hot soup, savouries, cakes and fruit, followed by a Swap Table which has become a recent feature of W@W get-togethers.  We bring garden produce, clothes, anything which we can swap.  Take what you need – give what you can is the motto.  If you have nothing to swap, give a donation:  this year donations go to Educare.  We raised over $200 for young people in developing countries.  Thank you ladies!

Marg concluded her studies on a high note.  God started His Creation – both natural and spiritual – in Genesis and He completes it in Revelation where His dwelling place is with His

family which He has loved and nurtured from start to finish through His Son.

What a gracious God we can come to know from the inside out.

Study Day 2017 – ‘Open Eyes – Open Heart – Open Hands’

An interesting, interactive and enjoyable day was shared by ladies considering God and caring for His amazing creation.  The ‘swap-mart’ was a huge success and is likely to make an annual appearance!  So watch this space!

God has been generous with His Gifts

Let us be generous with God’s Gifts

Many interesting ideas were suggested during the day.  One such was to save tree prunings and place them in water.  Spring will reward you with a resurrection and you will have a vase full of beautiful blossoms!

Some of what God says about His creation:

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” Gen 1:1

“The God looked over all He had made and He saw that it was very good” Gen 1:31

“The LORD God placed the man in the garden of Eden to tend and watch over it” Gen 2:15

“The heavens proclaim the glory of God … the instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul” Psalm 19:1,7

“The earth is the LORD’S and everything in it … for He laid the earth’s foundations on the seas and built it on the ocean depths” Psalm 24:1,2

STUDY DAY 2016 – ‘You Are MY Stars’

“What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving.

People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works.

Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out.  You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow.  God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”  (Matthew 6 , Message Bible)

We were blessed with a lovely, sunny day.  So many positive comments from everyone in attendance.  Thank you to all who attended and contributed to a worthwhile occasion.

Until next year, enjoy every day God gives you.

Alone with God

“The human soul needs actual beauty more than bread.”  D H Lawrence.

Natural creation can be seen as a sanctuary which enables us to enjoy and honour our Creator.

Why not spend 20 minutes or so in silence looking for and celebrating one beautiful moment or object and share your experience with someone over the dinner table tonight.

Journal – le jour = the day (French)

Keeping a spiritual journal is not like keeping a diary of events in your life nor is it meant to be beautiful literature suitable for publication – unless you want it to be!

A spiritual journal is a private record of your feelings, reflections and responses to each day’s journey. Feel free to add poems, prayers and quotes which you find helpful and relevant.

I thank you God for most this amazingwebsite1

and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything

which is natural which is infinite which is yes…
